Speaker 1:

Hi, this is Gretchen from come to yourself.com with our series facts, not fiction, featuring a discussion about Paris psychology with Lloyd our back enjoy psychic and intuitive or intuition are used sometimes interchangeably. And I'm curious, uh, especially for people who, who, you know, may say to themselves, you know, I have pretty great intuitive abilities or, you know, I feel like I'm an empath. I feel other people's emotions, energies. Um, is that almost a foundation or could that be a foundation for people who may want to explore their own potential psychic ability is if they feel that they have some greater intuition or empathic ability,

Speaker 2:

I would say yes. Um, they should, you know, we do make a distinction between intuition and ESP in Paris, psychology. Um, what's that distinction, the distinction is that intuition is based on information you have in your head and your sensory observations, it's combination of those things. And it's important to remember that we don't always, we certainly don't remember everything we have in our heads. Um, we are exposed to huge amounts of information if you were in a crowded restaurant, which is alien to most people these days, but if you were at a crowded restaurant, um, even though it's, it's really noisy and you're talking to one person in front of you and you hear a conversation at the next table, and you suddenly get interested in that, that person talking to you, that the person you're with is still talking. And that information is still going into your head. We are able to attend to specific audio olfactory, visual cues, visual information, to focus on them. But that doesn't mean the rest of the stuff is not coming in. And that stuff's going into your head and into your memory, deep memory. And it may even pay off if you are doing a trivia contest and you know, the answer and you can't even figure out how in the world could I possibly have known that, but I know it. And it's because you overheard it at some point. Um, so that's intuition then ESP would be potentially that, but there's information that you could not possibly have known. That's the key is it's nonsensitive information. So it's information beyond logical inference beyond intuition, beyond the range of your senses. You could not possibly have known it's hidden from your senses. Um, the thing is that back in the, I think it was the seventies when it first got started, uh, you know, there were people who were psychics were working with business people and in the sixties, out of the sixties, you know, wild time that we have with consciousness expansion. And so on, uh, into the seventies, there was a shift and psychics. There were a lot of psychics in the sixties who were doing, um, direct mail. Now you can get a reading by mail instead of the psychic. It was that way kind of thing. There were a lot of scam artists out there, and there were a lot and you could open the yellow pages for those remember yellow pages. And you could look in Paris under parapsychology, the yellow pages listed all these psychics, basically Madame so-and-so, Reverend so-and-so, you know, Swami so-and-so and almost never a para psychologist. So the word parapsychology was taken by psychics and phony psychics because it sounded

Speaker 1:

More official. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Um, so the people who were really serious about consulting with business, people knowing that business people would have a problem with that started calling themselves intuitives business intuitives instead of a business psychic or business clairvoyant and that stuck. And it was then used throughout the psychic community, you know, because it's a more mainstream term and psychologists don't bristle when they hear that word. And you know, so yeah,

Speaker 1:

It's branding got it. But there is a definite distinct difference between intuition and

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'll say that people were highly intuitive, might actually be having an aptitude for being psychic and people who are empathic in that way may have an aptitude for being psychic, or they may just be good observers of nonverbal communication without realizing it, which is still a great skill.
